June 22, 2002 Sauronic Uruks Substandard? Elvish Propaganda! Thanks 'The Real Greg H' for telling me i was the Lord of Gifts, i didnt know who i was there for a moment! ha! Loremaster yeah i know what you're saying and it is a good argument but you are still viewing allll Saurons orcs based on the few that were on the orthanc run with Sarumans lot. i mean the uruk "Sergeants".. slave drivers that enlist Frodo and Sam were alot more powerful than Ugluk n Co. Sauron was content with the orcs he had????? i dont think so. he wanted better orcs and lots o em. look what he did to the Trolls... Olog-hai. made them better, would he stop there and not improve his orcs as well?!? of couse he would! Thousands of years of study for Sauruman to improve orcs makes him THE expert?! saruman was a new comer, a novice, Sauron was there from the beginning, he had more experience and knowledge in his fingertip than what saruman had in his entire being. Remember both Sauron and Saruman were originally Maiar of Aule. Sauron being the greatest of Aules Maiar, and, with the exception of Eonwe the greatest of all Maiar. To say that Sauron had not the intelligence or skill or will to modify orcs and make a better job of it than the much lesser saruman is... well...erm... stupid. (dont mean to sound harsh but couldnt for the life of me think of a nicer word). Is it a by-product of the film that people are now putting Saruman up on a pedastal? thinking that he could, even without the ring hope to rival the great sauron, lord of the earth?? strange... i always viewed Saruman as an upstart, ok more powerful than the dregs of middle-earth (elves dwarves etc), but little more than a fly to the Nameless One. Saurman "the inventor" ha! compared to Sauron he was a caveman who invented the club. "The Lost Road" gives a glimpse of what he could create, "..darts like thunder that pass over leagues unerring.." Sauron helped them to create missiles (Numenoreans created that themselves, yeah right!!! Numenorean knowledge, just like that of the elves of Eregion increased exponentially after Sauron arrived). Sauron a Genius who was maligned by elvish lies and propaganda. The same elves who used humans as "cannon fodder" in their wars. On a completely different note completely, did anyone else notice in The Movie (all hail jackson!) the two images on either side of the gates of Minas Morgul. The scene where the nine ride out. The images were reminicent of the Numenorean statues at Amon Sul and Amon Hen. I just thought id mention it as it was a lovely piece of detail that was on the screen only for bare moments. One has to tip Ones hat to Mr Jackson. see you later ;) |
