I have kind of a bit to respond to, so please bear with me.

First off, yes, people (authors) do look to the Bible for ideas. One author, Brian Jacques, even once said that he had found names for some characters in the Bible.

Iona, I applaud your article. You are so incredibly correct in saying that all religions are not the same, because it's true! And you are also correct in saying that people misinterpret Christians and how they should act. I am Christian and have many friends who have surprisingly awkward, I guess, visions of what Christians do and how they act.

David K., I found your Radagast theory very interesting and wonder how the story would be different if that actually DID happen. I've always wanted to know what happened to Radagast because he's only mentioned once or twice throughout the whole trilogy.

Matt and Beans-Tolkien wrote a letter to someone, part of which is printed at the beginning of the Silmarillion (at least in my copy). In the letter Tolkien says that he never intended his story to be an allegory.

Lastly, I agree with Red Horn that Aragorn did something weird with his accent. Its bothered me since the first time I saw the movie that he keeps changing his accent! First it's American, then he eliminates some of his r's, I was wondering what the heck was going on with him! Why he couldn't just use 1 accent I don't know.

Well, that's it for now.
