The Divine Order
Brett C.
Now Annatar; are we getting just a bit cocky. The 2nd greatest of the Maiar. I don't remeber seeing that in writing anywhere [actually hang on, I'll just check...
...no, not there in the Silmarillion, [but you might have another source] Now I'll grant you He Who Is Not Named was certainly high up in the order of his people, and probably even higher than Olorin in power if not in wisdom, but I wouldn't put him right behind Eonwe.
After all the Valar following Manwe in status would have to be either Ulmo or Varda, so wouldn't that imply the greatest after Eonwe would be Osse [who Morgoth also tried to recruit] or Ilmare [Varda's handmaiden - ouch!].
Seriously dude, you have to admit you have an uphill battle with this arguement considering you got done by a hobbit and his tater-totting servant. What could be more embarassing than that - oh, except maybe that time you were beaten up by the dog...
