LotR and Christianity
Elbereth
On this whole Lord of the Rings and Chrisitanity thing, I'm going to bring up a point that no one seems to have brought up yet.
One thing that reminds me of Christianity in The Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion besides the fall of man, is the whole part that Sauron plays in this story. It reminds me of how in Christianity, Satan is called the deciever of mankind which is interesting because of how Sauron found mankind the easiest to decieve and the most ready to submit to his will and the weakest in strength to resist his corruption.
Also what i thought was interesting was how Sauron took the name Annatar,"Lord of gifts", and took a form that appeared fair to men and was able to seem wise. In Christianity, Lucifer also was able to appear as an "angel of light" and able to appear wise and fair and so was able to decieve. And like Sauron when he went to Numenor and decieved the king and became high in his counsels and because of the kings desire came to him and his counsel seemed wise(to make war on the Lords of the West)like a serpent with honey on his forked tongue.
I just thought that it was interesting.
