Cs Lewis and Tolkien
Matt

It was not CS Lewis that led Tolkien to Christ, but the reverse. Lewis was an agnostic before Tolkien convinced him to become a Christian.

Tolkien always wrote with respect to the fall of man. Since man was fallan, he was prone to corruption and evil. The LOTR shows how mortals can choose between good and evil.

Frodo survived until the very end when he finally gave into corruption at the cracks of doom. However, his previous pity for gollum helped to destroy the ring.

It was that and also the fact that the evil characters made serious mistakes seeking the ring. Saruman who brought out his army in search of the ring too fast and Sauraon, who thought that Aragorn or Gandalf had the ring. He concentrated his entire army at the gates and his eye focused on only the army ignoring Frodo and Sam.

Tolkien wrote the LOTR to show that man can never claim power over another for any purpose because it will lead to his downfall. Evil exists and the path that evil comes into fruition is through power.
