July 15, 2002 Tolkien and Christianity In response to the numerous postings in regards to Tolkien and his faith or representations of his faith in his works, I honestly believe that he was not trying to use his books as a forum to teach morality. I think he was just trying to tell a story of good vs. evil, light vs. dark, and how the small can overcome the mighty. These are not exclusively Christian beliefs. I think that everyone can enjoy his works alot more if they put aside religion since his works are not religious texts. |
