In response to what Deb said about Merry and Pippin being well out of their tweens, Merry may be older, but Pippin is not. In The Return of the King, when Pippin is talking to Beregond's son, (his name escapes me at the moment) Pippin tells him that he has 4 years until he "comes of age". This would make him 29, still in his tweens. Therefore, he is most definitely much younger than Frodo. Just thought I'd clear that up!
