I hear that Shelob won't be making her appearance until ROTK. This is disappointing in itself, since it means we've got two years to wait until we see her. But I guess this also means that Frodo doesn't get captured by the orcs until the third movie either - which is also disappointing, since that would be the perfect cliffhanger ending for TTT.

Actually, it would be pretty cool if TTT ends right after the fight with Shelob but before Shagrat and Gorbag show up - in other words, when Sam (and the audience) still thinks that Frodo is dead. Okay, so that would be a serious downer ending and have some people going "They killed off the hero halfway through the story? What's up with THAT?!" But just picture it - Sam cradling Frodo's body in his arms, taking the Ring from him and thinking "What the hell do I do NOW...?" and then the closing credits come up.

Won't happen though, I guess...
