Sons of Elrond
David
In response to Peter C's response to my article...
Even though I do believe that Arwen might largely replace Elrond's sons in the movies, I do think the sons do show up (unnamed) in the FOTR movie. If you note during the Council scenes, Elrond is flanked by two similar looking, dark-haired, young elfs. Can I be certain these are his sons? Well, no. But do I think they are and it was one of Jackson's ways of acknowledging their presence even though he might not be able to fully include them in the movie? Yes. Do such little details make geeks like me pretty happy? Why yes they do!
Other good geek details: 1. there has been some debate regarding if Galadriel revealed her ring to Frodo. Some have wondered if the ring in her wave good bye was her ring of power. On my fourth viewing, comparing the "3 rings for the elven lords" scene to the waving scene, it is the very same ring. In fact the opening scene goes to great length to clearly show both the top and bottom of the ring so we can recognize it later. 2. Also, comparing the "3 rings for the elven lords" scene to later scenes, I do believe we VERY briefly see Gil-Galad in the Last Alliance battle scenes. Plus, just seeing Cirdan is great too. Has any eagle eyes out there tried to compare Gil-Galad's ring and Cirdan's ring to any jewelry Elrond and Gandalf may be wearing? I bet we at least see Cirdan/Gandalf's ring before the trilogy is finished.
Final really cool geeky detail: That ring Aragorn is wearing a lot...could it be the ring Finrod Felagund gives to Beren's father which becomes an heirloom of his descendants? If so, how cool is Jackson for including such details?
