Invisiblity

In the books, when Frodo was singing in The Prancing Pony, he fell off the table and accedently put the ring on and dissappeared. But note how he had never put the ring on before. He certainly didn't have a reason to be invisable (aside from the embarrassment of falling off the table) nor did he know that he would become invisable. With this in mind, how would he will the invisablity?

And in reply to Legolas, I would like to ask if you saw the other posts about Christianity (couldn't miss them since there were about a billion). I really doubt that we will ever find a direct link to Christianity through LOTR, maybe a slight, SLIGHT resemblance, but never a direct link
