Real Master, Annatar?

Annatar, Sauron was never the true 'master' of Middle-Earth. When he served Morgoth in the First Age, he was a powerful being, but he wasn't in charge. Sauron never wrested total control of Middle-Earth from the Elves and Men in the Second Age; and he was ultimately destroyed by a Halfling! Master? Oh, please!
