Rings Weaves Magic on Book Chart

LONDON: Fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings continues to cast a spell on readers, with a guide to the classic story entering the British bestseller list at number one.

Author Jude Fisher's companion to the first film in the Rings trilogy went to the top in its first week, chart compiler Nielsen BookScan said yesterday.

The big-screen version of author JRR Tolkien's swords-and-sorcery novel The Fellowship of the Ring has taken more than 520 million pounds at the box office.

Fisher's guide to the movie knocked the biography of Scottish comic Billy Connolly, written by his wife Pamela Stephenson, off the top spot.
