Gandalf to be Lord of Hogwarts
Staff Reporter

And he won't even have to change his wig. Britain's Sun newspaper is tipping Lord of the Rings wizard Gandalf to take over the role of the late Richard Harris as Professor Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series.

With the two movies releasing at the same time of year, actor Sir Ian McKellen could be shaping up against himself in the two fantasy blockbusters.

Harris died in October after starring in the first two Harry Potter movies, The Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets.

Sun columnist Dominic Mohan claimed McKellen was hired after the favourite for the role, Dracula actor Christopher Lee, ruled himself out.

There was also a suggestion the film makers might use computer tricks to bring Harris back, but they realised before Christmas they did not have enough unused footage.
