The Importance of Character

I have to admit, I'm not as dedicated to Tolkien's works as some, but I have read LOTR four times, in addition to the Silmarilion and the hobbit. Even though I was upset about some of the changes they made (Such as the fact that they didn't even mention Gimli's admiration for Galadriel, or the initial conflict between Legolas and Gimli), I still absolutely LOVED the movie. You know why? Because the characters still had character. I feel that everyone who acted in the movie demonstrated the depth of character that appears in Tolkien's books. You can't say the same about Harry Potter film. You just can't.
