Elf Lords At Helms Deep

Its been awhile since I have read the Lord of the rings, but I don't remember any Elves at Helms Deep.

In the movie just before the orcs arrive a few hundred elven archers arrive and they are led by the Elf Lord Celeborn I beleive. Am I correct or was it another elf lord...maybe it was the elf lord who stopped the fellowship just as they were entering Lothlorien?

I dont remember that every taking place in the book. If it wasnt in the book I do think it was a great addition.
