The Two Towers: Disappointing to Only Me?

Ok how about I saw the Two Towers on the 18th, when it came out, and though some of the movie was in sync I would like to know where Jackson got it in his head that he could completely change Faramir's character personality. He was a jack-ass in the film!!! He is suppose to be a better person than the his brother Boromir, but to the ones out there who haven't read the books, they believe Boromir to be the nicer of the two!!! This isn't fair or right and it highly disappointed me.
