Push for Towers Oscars

New Line Cinema, the American backer of Peter Jackson's The Two Towers, has launched an advertising campaign for the film to be nominated for Oscars this year.

A full- colour advertisement on the front cover of weekly entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporter published this week pushes for the film to win best picture.

Many studios run big advertisements each year in trade magazines urging members of the Academy of Arts and Sciences to consider their films as Academy Awards contenders.

The Oscar nominees will be announced on February 11. Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring was nominated for 13 Oscars last year and won four.
