Two Towers Up for International Awards

Peter Jackson's The Two Towers has been nominated for more awards – this time by the London Critics Circle and the Los Angeles-based Golden Satellite Awards.

Jackson – whose latest film The Two Towers remains the No 1 film in New Zealand and the United States for the third week – received nine Golden Satellite Awards by the International Press Academy, made up of entertainment journalists.

The Two Towers was nominated as best motion picture – drama, and Jackson for best director and best screenplay along with Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Stephen Sinclair. The other nominations were: best supporting actor – drama, best cinematography, best visual effects, best film editing, and best sound. The film will also receive a special achievement award when the awards are announced on Monday (NZ time).

The London Critics Circle has nominated Jackson for best director. The winners will be announced on February 12.
