My Chosen Race
Posted by Galadriel on 10-17-03
I would like to be an elf. Why? Because, as humans, it seems that as soon as we have matured and experienced enough to be considered truly wise...

Acadamy Awards
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 10-18-03
I was just wondering something. Do you think ROTK will win best picture? I know it is a little early to tell. (But the trailer was amazing!).

Academy Award
Posted by Galadriel on 10-19-03
Sorry, Frodo_Lives, but I don't have a very high opinion of the Academy Award judges. I hated the movie "Chicago" and that won for best picture!

The Mystery of the Statues
Posted by Imlar on 10-19-03
This isn't anything too important, just something that I noticed on the official site, in the gallery section (see link below)...

Wha?
Posted by Tinowien on 10-21-03
Well, I eagerly read on the Net that there would be a little Legolas picture on A&W Rootbeer cans, and sent my Dad out to the store to bring me some sugary Elven fun- and NOTHING!

Last Words, Question
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 10-21-03
I just realized something! I hope the last words I hear at the end of ROTK with tears streaming down my eyes is.... "Well, I'm home." You know how much that would make me cry!

The Elven Statues, TTT Art, and Oscars
Posted by Bob Praz on 10-21-03
Imlar, the elven statues that appear twice in the official site galleries are from Rivendell. They were in the Extended Fellowship DVD galleries as well.

Wisdom...
Posted by Annatar on 10-21-03
Great age does not ensure great wisdom (..from the mouths of babes...). Humans in Middle-earth, when taking into account their short lives show a massive amount of wisdom...

My Choice of Race
Posted by Foxy on 10-21-03
I would have to go with Danny on this one. About the whole death thing I mean. Being an elf would be cool, my friend even calls me a half elf for several reasons, but, yah. what he said.

My Precious!!!!!! The Beginning of RotK, Question
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 10-21-03
The part where Faramir catches Gollum at the "Forbidden Pool" and when he is questioning him he asked Gollum, "what, what did they take?" And Golloum turns and yells as Faramir...

Re: Frodo Lives
Posted by Bob Praz on 10-21-03
I think the way I can best imagine PJ ending RotK would be to have the camera on the grey ship as it leaves the shore and fades in the mist, zooming out...

Valaraukar and Other Tales
Posted by Jarrickon Half-elven on 10-21-03
Master Praz, you raise an interesting topic? Whither went the lost scenes of the Scourge of Slime and the Endless Stair? It appears they have vanished into the mist, but with all the art produced by Alan Lee...

Soundtrack!!
Posted by Lilly on 10-22-03
OOOOOOH! Am I the only one who's checked out the ROTK soundtrack info to be found at theonering.net? IT GIVES A LIST OF TRACK NAMES!!!!

Race, Question
Posted by Tuor on 10-22-03
Well, I've given some thought to this, and I believe if I could chose my race of creature, I think I would stay a human.

RotK Has to End at the Havens
Posted by Matt McNabb on 10-22-03
For me, ROTK has to end at the Havens.

Aragorn and Beginning
Posted by Foxy on 10-23-03
Hey Bob Praz, when you said that the guy that played Haldir said that Aragorn hadn't had a bath in a while, is that in real life, or just the movie!

Beginning of RotK and RotK Soundtrack
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 10-24-03
I was thinking of something. The beginning of ROTK has to be Gandalf, Theoden and co. going to confront Saruman.

No Time
Posted by Tinowien on 10-24-03
Someone asked why there hasn't been many posts lately, and now that I have a minute to spare here is my answer...

God Bless Theonering...but Are They Serious??
Posted by Lilly on 10-25-03
Again, MORE MAGNIFICENT SPOILERS UP ON THEONERING.NET! Pictures from the ROTK, including Denethor's Pyre, Pippin and the Palantir, Frodo and Sam on Mt. Doom, and Frodo and Sam in orc get-up!!!

Aragorn's Baths and RotK Opening
Posted by Bob Praz on 10-25-03
In response to your question, Foxy, I'm pretty sure Craig Parker was joking when referring to Aragorn's lack of baths (though you could choose to believe otherwise; hehe).

Saruman and Grima's Death
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 10-26-03
If it's true what Bob Praz said about Legolas killing Grima with an arrow I just want to say I dont like that at all.

Bloopers
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 10-26-03
I was just thinking to myself how much I would like to see a blooper reel of LOTR.

The Smell of Hobbit and the Cockroach Shuffle
Posted by Niphredil on 10-28-03
I was just having a look at Frodo and Sam dressed as Orcs (as pointed out by Lilly) on TheOneRing.net site...

Wormtoungue Crying?
Posted by Jafo on 10-29-03
Now that I have finally had a chance to watch TTT a few times at home, I noticed something that I haven't heard discussed before.

This is Interesting... (Spoilers)
Posted by Bob Praz on 10-29-03
I went on the official site recently to check out the new wallpapers of Shelob, the Witch-King, etc. To my astonishment, one of the wallpapers was from the shot where Gandalf and Pippin...

HEY, everyone Ok, so I've been reading all the posts for about a week and I have FINALLY registed so I have a lot of stuff to say on everything...

Re: Jafo
Posted by Samwise on 10-29-03
Hey Jafo you must be a new member because we did discuss Grima and Saruman before. We all had different opinions and mine was that Grima had some tears of pride...

**Mini-spoiler Warning Alert Thing**

Apologies to all those who the Article Title annoyed (including myself).

Re: Mini Spoiler Alert Thing
Posted by Magic Fire on 10-30-03
To Jarrickon Half-elven: The guy playing "The Mouth of Sauron" is the guy who flew the gyrocopter in Road Warrior and also appeared in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Wallpapers and Soundtrack
Posted by Danny on 10-30-03
Ok first off, those witch king wallpapers are awesome. The winged beast looks amazing, and I absolutely love the armor design they gave the witch king.

Hobbit Smell
Posted by RaggedyAnndy on 10-31-03
Hello! Niphredil asked an interesting question - why can't the orcs smell Sam and Frodo in Mordor? I was thinking that maybe...

Soundtrack, TTT Tickets
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 11-01-03
On the soundtrack: I aggree with Danny. I wanted Enya to do all of the major songs for LOTR. It almost brings me to tears heearing "May it Be".

It is I, Pip
Posted by Pip on 11-02-03
Thought I'd start it like that, cause I can't read the authors' names anymore until I open the articles. The print is really mini on my computer.

Inconsistency in Sam's Knowledge
Posted by Orangeblossom on 11-02-03
This is my first post. I love LOTR, it is the my favorite book and movies. The changes that Peter Jackson makes stay within the world created on the screen and in the book.

Knowledge Inconsistencies and Other Stuff
Posted by Lilly on 11-03-03
Well, once Sam knew that Boromir was dead (as Faramir told him earlier), he probably used his hobbit-sense to put two and two together...

Welcome Orangeblossom!
Posted by Frodo_Lives on 11-03-03
Hello Orangeblossom! You are going to have so much fun posting! Yes, that's very true about Sam's limited knowledge.

'Frenchness' and Wi Kuki Kaa
Posted by Bob Praz on 11-04-03
Wi Kuki Kaa is an indigen from New Zealand, I believe (just to explain the name). However, I was always under the impression that PJ cast someone in the role of Ghan-buri-ghan...

Old Man Willow and Gollum’s Beating
Posted by Niphredil on 11-04-03
I was just having another read through TTT extended edition review by Illuvatar. I think it is great how PJ and Co are...

RotK Trailer
Posted by RaggedyAnndy on 11-04-03
Hey all! Am I a little late with my opinion on the ROTK trailer? Oh, well. ;^) After I saw it the first time, I just sat there, taking it all in.

Billy Boyd on the RotK Soundtrack
Posted by Fallongirl5150 on 11-04-03
I had heard that Billy Boyd, everyone's favorite Pip (sorry Pip!) would be in the new movie "Master and Commander".

Someone Enlighten Me, Please
Posted by Pip on 11-04-03
Okay, everyone has been talking about Ghan-buri-ghan, and I am ashamed to say that I cannot bring any recollection to that name at all.

Orangeblossom, RotK Soundtrack and the Eagles
Posted by Mr. Underhill on 11-04-03
Greetings all I return briefly from my inundation of school work to write this article. Orangeblossom welcome to tolkien-movies.

Re: Extended Version
Posted by Danny on 11-04-03
I too agree that Faramir's men beating Gollum really bothers me for all the same reasons you mentioned.

Billy, Old Man Willow, and Yah
Posted by RaggedyAnndy on 11-04-03
Hello! Billy Boyd is going to be singing on the ROTK soundtrack - how awesome is that? I've heard a lot about how he's a great singer, so it'll be cool to finally hear him.

Shortest Post of Mine... Ever!
Posted by Jarrickon Half-elven on 11-05-03
Pip, Ghan-buri-ghan was the chieftain of the Wildmen encountered by Théoden and his men in the Druadan forest on their way to Minas Tirith.

Ghan-buri-ghan Explained

In answer to an already answered posting, I will elaborate further on this Chieftan of the Woses and what the Encyclopedia of Arda gives...

Blue Sky in Mordor???
Posted by Gothmog on 11-06-03
Is it just me or is anyone else confused by some of the spoiler pics floating around that show Sam and Frodo in orc garb under a blue sky?

Mordor Luin
Posted by Jarrickon Half-elven on 11-07-03
Gothmog, there is one and only one explanation to the sunny-skied pictures of the Land of Shadow we've been seeing.

Re: Sunshine in Mordor
Posted by Danny on 11-07-03
I agree with you on the fact that there shouldn't be sunshine in Mordor. My guess about those pictures is that they are production photos of the actors on a set...

Blue Skies
Posted by Lilly on 11-07-03
Whenever there's a color that shouldn't be, it means they haven't digitally changed the color yet.
